Autumn colors at Christmas!

The view from the bridge that links our office to the Midtown building. How pretty is that for the center of the Tokyo at Christmas (nearly)?

Bye, bye Kominka...

My part-time home and full-time restoration project of the last 5 years has been sold!

Built in the Edo-Period, my beautiful kominka was built and owned previously by several generations of the local Kanushi san. It is quite rare in the Boso area due to the large size of the keyaki and cedar timbers from which it is built. As opposed to houses in Nagano ken, for instance, that need thick roof timbers to support the weight of large amounts of snow, it rarely snows and almost never collects in this area... I’m going to miss you...

Forza Tohoku!!

The Sake brewery (Dewa-zakura in Tohoku) has released a new brand.
When the bottle is empty, "Tohoku will shine again!" appears on the back of the label.

Foo Tigers at Zenkoku Temple in Kagurazaka

Usually we have Foo Dogs, but Zenkoku Temple (善国寺) in Kagurazaka (神楽坂) has Tigers which is very unique.

The pinnacle of British motoring!

A Jaguar E-Type (XK-E in the US) coupe in British Racing Green I spotted near Nogizaka station, Tokyo. A little oddly, despite being left-hand drive meaning that it was built for export, it's sporting British number plates which indicate it's a 1974 model, quite apart from the fact it is doing so in Japan! They were manufactured between 1961 and 1975 and are, in my opinion, the most beautiful sports cars of all time.

Brunch with the big boys!

Late summer, post training brunch preparation with some rather large, dedicated young men at the Takadagawa Sumo Stable. Absolutely delicious food and great company.
